The Promotion Committee has been dubbed "The Breakfast Club" and meets monthly. Call the DCI office for dates and times... 345.5598.

The Breakfast Club consists of downtown business owners, employees, and other volunteers.

The ultimate goal of the Promotion Committee is to market a unified business district, promote a positive image, increase customer traffic, and solidify and increase sales. Its mission is to create and produce special events and activities that bring people downtown and build awareness of the goods and services that are available. And to also promote downtown as a positive community gathering place to shop, do business, and have fun.


Marketing and Promotional Projects
  • Seek funding sources (sponsorships, grants, etc.) for various projects.
  • Create Downtown Collinsville marketing brochure with map highlighting dining, businesses, public art, historic buildings, and other landmarks.
  • Create marketing piece to promote the World's Largest Catsup Bottle as a destination and a draw to the downtown business district.
  • Create program to offer pages for businesses on the Downtown Collinsville web site.
  • Review, update if necessary, and print Historic Walking Tour brochures.
  • Provide Main Street/National Trust promotion and marketing information and training for volunteers and businesses.

Downtown Collinsville World's Largest Catsup Bottle Summerfest Birthday Party
  • Meetings to be held every other week beginning in February.
  • Meetings every week at end of May.
  • Continue partnerships with the City, CARD, CCVB, and the Library.
  • Seek major funding sources.
  • Car & Truck Show is sole responsibility of the car club with less responsibility placed upon DCI.
  • Level of PR to be maintained as is.
  • Create and hang banner over Main Street and island sandwich board sign.
  • Food vendors, Crafts vendors, and "anything that takes up space" to be consolidated under one coordinator.
  • Quality of entertainment to be maintained.
  • Enable set up to take place the night before.
  • Better money-making opportunities should be looked into!!
  • Hold evaluation get-together after the event.
  • Continue to market the World's Largest Catsup Bottle as a destination and as a draw to the Downtown Collinsville, Inc. office and the downtown business district.

Participate in Italian Fest
  • Possibly have a food booth, or preferably a Wine Garden, as a fundraising activity that promotes the organization and highlights the participating merchants.
  • Enter the parade with a float or have walking participants showcasing the merchants of downtown Collinsville.
  • Also have a parade entry for the Catsup Bottle.
  • Create a "Safe Haven" at a downtown business for families to get out of the crowds and sit and enjoy some quiet time together and visit with others and other merchants, and to provide clean climate controlled restrooms!

C.H.S. Homecoming Parade
  • Work to keep Homecoming Parade back in downtown where it belongs.
  • Promote and build awareness of the parade.
  • Increase participation and community spirit with the downtown merchants and with downtown shoppers.
  • Create and distribute "Chief Kahok Loves Downtown" ribbon/pins.
  • Create and hang banner over Main Street and display island sandwich board sign.

Girl Scouts Paint The Town
  • Continue successful partnership with Girl Scout Troops to paint Halloween decorations on windows of downtown businesses.
  • Write and mail letter requesting business participation in event.
  • Coordinate responses and maintain list for Scouts.
  • Promote and increase awareness of event.

Halloween Walk and Chilli Cookout
  • Continue the tradition of a children's Halloween Trick or Treat walk to downtown area merchants.
  • Continue the Chili Cookout event.
  • Make Chili Cookout event more user friendly and all inclusive of every downtown business and any civic group or organization wishing to participate.
  • Get corporate sponsorship for event from Brooks or National Chili Council or someone like that.
  • Coordinate with the City for a successful event.
  • Continue the Costume Contest.
  • Partner with CARD for equipment and help.
  • Create a Community Heritage Costume category to feature: Catsup Bottles, (Killer) Tomatoes, Coal Miners, Horseradish & Farmers, Native Americans, Cow Bells, etc...

Dean's Metro East Wine Tasting Event
  • Participate as host and emcee for the annual Dean's Wine Tasting Event.
  • Promote and increase awareness of event.
  • Continue to use the event to promote the downtown streetscape, downtown businesses, and the Main Street organization.
  • Set up easels to show off projects and events.
  • Set up info table with mailing list and volunteer sign up sheets.
  • Proceeds from the auction benefit D.C.I.

Christmas In Collinsville
  • Continue "Downtown Business Open House Walk"
    Coordinate downtown businesses to participate in Open House activities.
    Create 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner awards.
    Create passport with map and information.
    Distribute passport to businesses before date of event.
  • Continue "Santa Celebration" at the Library.
    Coordinate activities with library staff.
    Solicit vendors for booths on library lawn.
    Coordinate and provide horse drawn wagon rides for the day (get sponsor).
  • Continue "Holiday House Tour"
    Secure six or seven participating homes or businesses for the tour.
    Design and create program booklet.
    Create and distribute tickets for sales.
    Host volunteer preview party the night before.
  • Meetings to be held every two weeks beginning in October.
  • Recruit volunteers for DCI activities.
  • Increase awareness and ticket sales.
  • Have post-event evaluation discussion.
